Notes on a Return

Documentary video and digital self-portrait series, 2009

Laing Art Gallery , Newcastle upon Tyne lead by curator Sophia Hao decided to create an exhibition inspired by memories of five previous exhibitions by internationally acclaimed artists, Anne Bean, Rose English, Bruce McClean and Nigel Rolfe in the 1980’s. As a younger artist, Meg was selected by artist Anne Bean a noted international figure where Meg was asked to respond to Anne’s work, ‘Pain tings’, a perception of discomfort of varying intensity.

Commissioned by The Laing Art Gallery, ‘Notes on a Return’ Meg’s work featured in an exhibition, a symposium and publication exploring ideas of memory, archive and the documentation of ephemeral practices.
